Who Will Win the Nationals?!

Saturday night the Perth Motorplex is the place to be as the Late Models compete not just in the seventh round of the BGC Late Model Pro Dirt Series, but also the final night of the Late Model Nationals!

Although the Nationals was originally scheduled to be run over three nights, with the cancellation of the Motorplex event scheduled to be held tonight, it will all come down to this Saturday night where we will crown the winner of the Late Model Nationals!

The format will see drivers split into two heats per round with two rounds of racing to be held. Grids are based on points accumulated from the heats and feature race at Ellenbrook last weekend, which was night one of the Nationals. The second round of heats will see these heat lineups inverted, though the drivers with zero points or who did not compete at Ellenbrook will continue to start at the rear.

The feature grid for the Nationals will then be done via accumulated points from the Ellenbrook and Motorplex shows, with the Late Model Nationals winner being the person who crosses the line first at the end of the feature race!

Warren Oldfield is the man with it all on the line, coming in as the high points man after winning the feature race at Ellenbrook. A pole position start in his first heat will bring him some confidence and he will be looking forward to potentially becoming the second local driver in as many years to claim the Nationals win.

Of course, the twenty two other competitors will have something to say about that, with names like Joe Chalmers, fresh off his career first podium, Brad Blake, who had a solid run at Ellenbrook, and Jay Cardy who was fifth in the feature after a consistent night at the last show all looking to upset the apple cart this weekend.

Defending champion Kye Blight will be hopeful of putting his motor issue behind him and fighting his way forward, as will other additions into the field including Matt Amato, David Boyes and Craig Greentree.

In more exciting news, Cody Avins and Clint Noakes are set to make their season debuts on Saturday night, while Warren Minshull is also coming out to play in the Late Models aboard the ex Willy Powell Club 29 machine.

It is going to be another great show, so make sure you are at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night!
