Western Australian Dirt Late Model Championship
Big Field for the 2012/2013 Western Australian Dirt Late Model Championship at Quit Collie Speedway
A bumper field will be on hand for the running of the 2012/2013 Western Australian Dirt Late Model Championship to be held this Saturday Night (February 23rd) at Quit Collie Speedway.
Current Western Australian Champion Warren Oldfield will put his title on the line this weekend against twenty seven other drivers in what promises to be one of the most wide open titles for some years.
Bunbury’s Brad Blake will return to the venue where he broke his arm in early January forcing him to miss the Australian Title at his home track the following week. The “0 Show” will be out to try and win his tenth WA Title in the class at Collie.
Craig Vosbergen who finished runner up to American Steve Francis in the recent Australian Championships will start as one of the favorites for Western Australian Title. Vosbergen, who won the last WA title to be held at Quit Collie Speedway two years ago, will be very confident of finishing on the podium this weekend.
One man who is riding a big high at the moment coming into this weekend is Matt Noakes. The Narrogin based driver recently took out the National Production Championship at Collie in early February before winning the WA State Title for Production Sedans the following weekend at his home track.
If confidence is a factor in getting yourself to the front of the field, Matt Noakes has a truck load of it at the moment.
The Ludlows will be hoping the Western Australian Championship brings them a change of luck after both Brad & Ben Ludlow have had a season to forget. Brad Ludlow finished runner up last season in the Western Australian Title held at Kalgoorlie Speedway and if his car is on song is a very strong chance of going one better in 2013.
Ryan Halliday comes into the 2012/2013 Western Australian Late Model Championship as a somewhat of a dark horse. Halliday has done little racing this summer due to other commitments but is a former State and National Champion. The Colonial Freightlines backed GRT is very fast whenever it hits the track and is always a threat for victory.
Some other drivers to watch this weekend with all genuine claims to finish on the podium include Matt Goodlad, Jay Cardy, Clint Noakes, Jac Dolmans and Jason Moyle who finished third in the 2010/2011 WA Title held at Collie.
The 2012/2013 Western Australian Late Model Championship will see the twenty eight drivers contest three rounds of ten lap heat races before the thirty five Championship final to decide the WA champion.
Make sure you get along to Quit Collie Speedway this Saturday Night and see the ground pounding action of the Dirt Late Models as they battle it out for the 2012/2013 Western Australian Championship.
