It has already been a massive season for Late Models in Western Australia and it is only going to get better as we enter into a massive period of big and prestigious races.
With six rounds of the XLI Pro Dirt Series already in the books, the Late Models have consistently, night in, night out, put more cars on track than most other divisions and turned on the action at each and every event.
Now, after a short break over the Christmas period, we are right back into it on Boxing Day at the Perth Motorplex. This annual show is always a big one, with a large crowd expected and is a great chance to showcase what Late Models are all about once again. With nearly thirty cars already nominated this is set to be a massive event as the drivers also use this event as the last chance hit out to prepare for the USA vs WA tour that will hit our shores in the New Year.
This four night series will kick into action at the Perth Motorplex on January 13th and 14th, doubling as the now annual Di Candilo Steel City Late Model Nationals. This will then be followed by rounds on the ensuing Friday night at QUIT Collie Speedway and then at Albany Speedway the following night.
The strong local field will be boosted on these four nights by the addition of five top flight American drivers, in Jason Fitzgerald, Devin Moran, Tyler Erb, Joe Godsey and Jeff Roth, as well as a number of interstate visitors including Ryan Alexander, Cameron Pearson, Ben Nicastri and Ryan Fenech in what is set to be a cracking series. More on these drivers to follow in coming weeks.
Once we have completed the USA Tour, a number of our local competitors will head across the Nullarbor to Murray Bridge in South Australia where hopefully one of them will bring the coveted Australia #1 home with them.
The action continues a week after the Aussie title when the XLI Late Model Series again returns to the Perth Motorplex, this time for the third annual running of the ‘Topless’ race. The event will be $4000 to win and the second richest event to win of the season!
As if this wasn’t enough, the next few shows at the Perth Motorplex and Bunbury Speedway will see us on the same program as some big events such as World Series Sprintcars and the Krikke Boys Shootout where we are sure to attract plenty of attention, followed by the Silver Cup event at the Motorplex, which will at that stage be round twelve of the XLI Pro Dirt Series.
Next up will the WA State Title which is sure to be once again hotly contested with any number of drivers capable of taking home the WA#1 before we finish out the season at the Perth Motorplex for the Grand Final event in early April.
With such a big season still to come, one thing is for sure… you won’t want to miss a minute of the action!!
