Giancola speed

This weekend will see the Late Model RACIN’ Tyres and Accessories Pro Dirt Series kick back into action once again, this time at Bunbury Speedway, beginning the last three rounds left of the series for the season.

After nine of the twelve rounds it is Warren Oldfield who leads the series by fifty four points ahead of Jamie Oldfield, while Kye Blight is a further thirteen points behind in third place. Jay Cardy also sits in fourth place, and being just twelve points behind Blight means the top four drivers are less then eighty points apart from each other, setting up what is sure to be an epic finish.

This weekend’s show at Bunbury will also form the final round of the QUIT Bunbury Cleanaway Track Championship, a series which is currently lead by Marc Giancola who is just ten points ahead of Paul Joss, while Kye Blight is just one point further back in third.

The top five drivers, including Michael Holmes and Jay Cardy are separated by less than twenty points and with all five nominated for this weekend, as well as three more drivers also sitting inside the top ten, it is still anyone’s series.

Looking at the official list of fourteen nominations, it is anyone’s game, with names such as Brad Blake, Warren Oldfield, Kye Blight, Marc Giancola, Jamie Oldfield, Jay Cardy and Michael Holmes all having claimed feature wins in the past. Holmes and Giancola in particular have both claimed victories at the Bunbury Bullring so far this summer and would love to grab another win, while all the other drivers will be hungry for another victory, especially home town hero Brad Blake.

Of course, these is a whole field of other drivers who are hunting for a victory, including the very fast Brent Vosbergen, the impressive Paul Joss (who has already claimed a podium finish at Bunbury this season) and the ever improving Ken MacPherson amongst others, making life very tough for all competitors on Saturday evening.

Just to further clarify, there are now three rounds of the RACIN’ Tyres and Accessories Pro Dirt Series left, with this weekend’s event at Bunbury the rescheduled round eight, with round twelve at the Perth Motorplex on the 23rd of April, while the rescheduled round ten is also to be held at the Perth Motorplex, this time on the 30th of April.

The very next week after the conclusion of the RACIN’ Tyres and Accessories Pro Dirt Series will see the Development Series roar into life, with the 7th of May the opening at the Perth Motorplex. This will be followed by five rounds at Ellenbrook Speedway, one at Kellerberrin Speedway and one to be determined at Pithara Speedway. For full dates see the LMRA Facebook page.

So to witness the Late Models for the last time this season at Bunbury and for your third last chance to see the division competing in earnest this season, head down to QUIT Bunbury Speedway this Saturday night!
