Return of the Black Night

Although still one of the relatively newer divisions in Speedway, Late Models have a solid history with many people playing a big part in developing them to the standard we have today.

One of those who has been around for most of that journey is Ryan Halliday and this season will see him back on track once again with the whole Ryan Halliday Racing team as they again hit the track in their quest for glory.

The former national champion had a busy season last time around, fielding a car for American Import Jason Fitzgerald during the USA Tour, as well as Ryan running select events.

“Last season had its ups and downs,” says Ryan. “We were good some nights, then bad the next, but to the end we were good and we hope to build on that this season.”

This season the team plans to do a lot more racing. Ryan himself will compete in as many rounds as possible of the XLI Pro Dirt Series including Manjimup and Motorplex shows, while the team will once again have Jason Fitzgerald coming out again in January for the Di Candilo Steel City USA Invasion tour, which is something they are all really looking forward to, especially with a new Longhorn car also ready to go.

“We are looking to have a strong season in the new Longhorn,” said Ryan. “Everything is new on this car and along with Jason from Fitz Factory we are sure to have a good season!”

The team has a good list of sponsors, including Colonial Freightlines who have come on board once again. Ryan would like to thank them for their support, as well as all the other who also support the team in Jason Fitzgerald from Fitz Factory Inc. Longhorn Chassis, Penske Racing Shocks, TopNotch Kustom Koncepts, Eldon Metals and Race Car Engineering.

It is going to be a huge season for Late Models in Western Australia, with a strong contingent of local cars set to contest the XLI Pro Dirt Series starting at Ellenbrook Speedway on Saturday the 7th of October, while the Di Candilo Steel City USA Invasion Tour is also set to be huge with no less than six Americans slated to be in the state to contest the four nights.
