Putting on a Show!

Just one week after putting on yet another enthralling show, the Late Models will again hit the track at the Perth Motorplex, this time for the Kwinana Cup, doubling as Round Five of the Sims Metal Management Late Model Pro Dirt Series.

Another good field of twenty one cars have signaled their intentions to entertain the crowd and with four different winners from the previous four rounds, the big question on everyone’s lips is can we make it five from five?

A whole host of names like series points leader Brad Blake, second placed Marc Giancola and third placed Jay Cardy haven’t yet claimed a feature win despite coming close, (five podium finishes between the three of them), proving that consistency is key in the Series, but when it comes to feature wins, these three are getting desperate to grab one!

Interestingly, the same three drivers, Giancola, Cardy and Blake are the top three in the Perth Motorplex Track Championship, another award which all three are keen to win and will hope to keep their point score strong this weekend.

Of course previous feature winners this year in the field include Round Two winner Ryan Halliday who has had a quiet couple of weeks and will look to bounce back, Round Three winner Kye Blight who missed the last show due to a wedding and last weekend’s winner Paul Stubber who put in a dominant performance in the thirty lap feature event to claim the win. All three of these drivers would love to take their 2018/19 feature win total to two and will be a big chance of doing that if things fall their way.

The only other driver apart from the aforementioned drivers (excluding Jamie Oldfied who is not racing this weekend) that has claimed a podium this season is Ken Macpherson. Kenny Mac has been consistently good and would love to break through for another podium, while other names like Michael Holmes and Veronica McCann have been tapping on the door of a podium but can’t quite get there yet this season.

Others in with a chance include the returning Brent Vosbergen after missing a meeting, Warren Oldfield who was very quick at the last meeting and battlers Daniel Ameduri and Mick Comley who have shown that they certainly have what it takes to be towards the front if a little luck goes their way. Others in the field include ‘The Flying Pom’ Freddy Kinsella and Simon ‘Awesome’ McNab, who will be joined by Chris Pavlovich and Daniel Green who have nominated to make their first Pro Dirt meetings of the season.

Racing begins from 6pm with qualifying from 5pm this Saturday night, with Late Models scheduled to hit the track at around 7pm for the first of four eight lap heats. This will be followed by a thirty lap feature event.
