Late Model Racing WA held the season launch at Kart World Belmont with a very large crowd of around a hundred people in attendance.
The night was opened by CEO Michael Holmes with lighthearted interviews of corporate partners who were about to put their driving skills to the test. The legends were welcomed and the scene was set for a fun night for everyone.
The headline act was the legends race involving some of the super stars of speedway racing. The driver lineup included Tony Giancola, Allan Blake, Barry Blake, Phil Richards, Rob Mc Gregor and Bert Vosbergen. Tony and Allan shared a dual kart with one steering and another operating the pedals and both emerged with smiles as wide as the main straight at the Perth Motorplex. Maybe we should put Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama in one next year to see how well they can cooperate.
Almost 70 drivers, media, friends, wives, partners etc had a go at the karts with some dodgy passing maneuvers marginally outside the racing rules. (Well that may have been a very big margin)
The coming RACIN Prodirt season was outlined in a brief speech by Michael Holmes as well as the USA INVASION TOUR, the PERTH MOTORPLEX TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP, the TRANSPACIFIC CLEANAWAY BUNBURY LATE MODEL TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP and the SPEEDTORQUE ALLSTAR SERIES.
Expectations for Late Models this season are at an all time high and this first official event has raised the anticipation another notch again.
The RACIN Prodirt Late Model series gets under way at Ellenbrook Speedway at 3pm on 11 October 2014.
