Oldfield’s Clean Sweep is Official!

After a delay due to technical issues, the LMRWA can officially confirm not just the results from the Tyres & More Esperance Speedway last night, but also that Jamie Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) made it a clean sweep, winning all four possible races and leading every lap possible on the night!
In what was the fourth round of the 2023/24 Pro Dirt Series, proudly presented by the great team at Ross’s Auctioneers & Valuers, Jamie started the night with a blistering 14.157 second lap in qualifying to top the charts ahead of Rod Musarra (@teamrocket) and Warren Oldfield (Oldfield Racing), then going on to claim the opening heat win.
Joe Chalmers (Team BCM Motorsport:) and Warren Oldfield would claim heats two and three, with Chris Barrow (Barrow Motorsports) claiming the bronze Dash (for positions thirteen onwards in points) and Michael Holmes (Michael Holmes Racing) the Silver Dash (positions seven to twelve), while Jamie would come out again in the Gold Dash and blow the field away, winning by over four and a half seconds to set up his first pole position start for the season.
In the feature race Jamie would grab the lead from the get go, with brother Warren settling into third follow by Jason Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) in what was looking to be yet another Oldfield trifecta early.
The yellow lights came on with one lap complete, Mat Robbins (Robbins Motorsport ) race coming to an early end, and on the restart Joe Chalmers would make the most of the opportunity, racing into second place, ahead of Jason while Warren dropped back to fourth.
With four laps complete the yellows would come on once again for a number of cars, but this would be the final stoppage of the race.
On the restart Jason Oldfield grabbed second from Chalmers while Australian Champion Brent Vosbergen (Team Vosbergen Racing – TVR) got the best of Warren Oldfield to take over fourth.
Up front, Jamie Oldfield found the first of the lapped cars on lap eight, but it wasn’t until lap thirteen when it became really heavy. It wouldn’t bother Jamie though as he began to move around them all while behind him Jason would still hold onto second ahead of Chalmers, Vosbergen and Warren.
The laps wound down and Vosbergen began to wind it up, passing Chalmers for third on lap eighteen, then setting out after second placed Jason Oldfield. Behind them Warren Oldfield was holding off a spirited effort from firstly Holmes, and then Musarra, who after starting in sixth had dropped as far as eleventh before fighting back to be in contention for fourth.
In the dying stages Musarra got past Oldfield for fifth and was looking around Chalmers, while further up Vosbergen was right on Jason Oldfield’s tail, making his move on the very last lap to claim second as they crossed the line.
That battle made little difference to Jamie Oldfield though, going on to claim the win by over five seconds ahead of Vosbergen with Jason Oldfield third.
Joe Chalmers, Rod Musarra, Warren Oldfield, Michael Holmes and Daniel Ameduri (Red dog racing) would round out the top eight finishers who were the only cars remaining on the lead lap as the chequers flew.
The win would be Jamie’s second Pro Dirt victory at the venue, though he has also won non points shows previously in addition, making Esperance a happy hunting ground!
Late Models now have a short break to rest and refresh before getting back on track at the Perth Motorplex on the 2nd of December for Round Five, proudly bought to you by Maddington Toyota & CanningVale Toyota.
