Off to Albany!

After a huge two nights of racing to open the Wild West Series, round three will see drivers head down to the Albany Speedway Club this Saturday night!
With a number of drivers experiencing issues over the last few nights, we now have nineteen cars indicating they will be heading down the highway for what it sure to be another highlight of the season!
The show will also again feature the Pro Dirt Series, drivers contesting what will be the ninth round thanks to McPhee Freight.
Although Kye Blight (Kye Blight Racing) has only contested three shows so far this season he has had plenty of success, two wins including the opening round of the Wild West Series, and he comes into this weekend as the current points leader.
‘The Highlight’ has in the past dominated events at Albany and if that last form is anything to go by, he will certainly be one to watch!
Joe Chalmers (Team BCM Motorsport:) has been consistent so far, which has carried into the New Year period and seen him recording two third place finishes from the two features in the mini series already held, leaving him equal second overall so far. Although not yet on the winners step this season, he has been knocking on the door on multiple occasions and could well break through this weekend.
Warren Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) is the man who joins Chalmers in equal second, having recorded a second and a fifth in the two feature races so far. He too has gone for a while without a win and would love to break that stream this weekend.
Jason Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) (a fourth and a sixth) and Jay Cardy (Cardy Racing Components) (sixth and a tenth) have each grabbed a heat win in the last two shows and round out the top five in points coming into the Albany show, an effort they too would like to improve on.
Jamie Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) has tasted main event success this season and coming into this weekends show sits sixth in the standings, hopeful of moving further forward, while others including Luke Halliday (CTM Recruitment Racing) and Michael Holmes (Michael Holmes Racing) also sit inside the top ten and will be hoping for solid runs to capitalise on the absence of a few other drivers.
Visiting drivers in American Jeff Roth, Victorian Peter Nicola (NRT – Nicola Racing Team) and Tasmanian Brad Smith (Brad Smith Devil Motorsports 6T) are also still in WA and making the trek down to the picturesque Albany Speedway where they will reignite their battles with some of the West Aussies including Ken Macpherson (KMM – Ken Macpherson Motorsport), while it is a slightly shorter trip than normal for Esperance locals Greg Horan (CPR – Chopper Pop Racing), Mat Robbins (Robbins Motorsport ) and Jeff Dickerson (Dickerson Family Racing) to also be part of the field.
An even more exciting addition is that of former Australian Champion Kodee Brown (McCorry Brown Racing Team) who so far has not been seen this season. Kodee has won at the venue before, his best victory being the 2016 WA Title and although he may experience some racing rust, he is sure to shake that off quickly and trouble the front runners.
Add in other names including Abbey Pickering (All About Racing in her first visit to the southern venue, and Chris Barrow (Barrow Motorsports) and Nathan Richards, both of whom have been getting increasingly faster, and this weekend will be another one for the record books at Albany Speedway!
Make sure you get down to Albany this Saturday night with racing from 5pm!
