Let’s do it again!

Just one week after the massive opening event for season 2023/24 at the Allwest Plant Hire – Ellenbrook Speedway, the Late Model Pro Dirt Series is back in action again this weekend, this time at the Perth Motorplex for Round Two, proudly presented by Maddington Toyota.

A great twenty cars have nominated for the show, including round one winner ‘The 0 Show’ Brad Blake who is in incredible form and would love to continue building on his already impressive resume as he continues to build his reputation as the GOAT of Late Models here in Australia.

He is already a six-time winner of the Grand Opening Showdown, two of those victories being part of the now annual Powerpalooza event, but he has never gone on to do the Ray Tulk Memorial/Powerpalooza double… could this weekend be his time?

The rest of the field certainly isn’t going to take it easy on Blake though, with many names looking for redemption after round one including Jamie Oldfield (Oldfield Racing), Michael Holmes (Michael Holmes Racing), Joe Chalmers (Team BCM Motorsport:), Jason Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) and Rod Musarra (@teamrocket), all of whom showed impressive speed at the series opener but didn’t quite come away with the results they desired come feature time.

Australian Champion Brent Vosbergen (Team Vosbergen Racing – TVR) was another who failed to finish the feature, so he will be looking to get back on track this Saturday night at the Perth Motorplex and claw his way back up into points contention, with Vosbergen and Jamie Oldfield also being former winners of the Grand Opening Showdown and ready to repeat come Saturday night.
Warren Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) and Jay Cardy (Cardy Racing Components) both recorded top four finishes at the last show, with both also being former Grand Opening Showdown winners, so will be hoping to be in the hunt again this weekend, while their fellow place getter last weekend in Ken Macpherson (KMM – Ken Macpherson Motorsport) and top five driver Veronica McCann (Veronica McCann – Red Hot Racing) will both be hoping to break through for their maiden Pro Dirt Series feature race victory!

Also looking for that same honour will be Luke Halliday (CTM Recruitment Racing), the long term driver never having claimed a Pro Dirt win, despite claiming feature victories in the early years of Late Models, including the inaugural Grand Opening Showdown at the Perth Motorplex some twenty three years ago.

Names like Damian Hudson (Hudson Racing Team), David Boyes (Boyes Motorsport) and Greg Horan (CPR – Chopper Pop Racing) have plenty of work to do to get their cars ready for this weekend on top of the travel to actually get to the venue, Boyes hoping to make his season debut with the Pro Dirt Series.

Also appearing for the first time this season are David Nylander (Nylander Motorsport), Nathan Richards and Abbey Pickering (All About Racing), who is making her Pro Dirt Series debut (and going alphabetically by first name, will also be the second top driver in the series history behind only Aaron Hancock!). Pickering will also be classed as a rookie, joining fellow rookie Peter Walker and last years Rookie of the Year Chris Barrow (Barrow Motorsports) as the final nominations in this weekend’s field.

Thanks to Maddington Toyota, this weekend will be a real cracker, so why not come down and enjoy what is essentially a festival of motorsport at the Perth Motorpex this Saturday afternoon and evening!
