Late Models Return to Ellenbrook to Kick Off 2015/16 Season!

m-g-3-fast-aaeb_ellenbrookDepending on who you ask, it has been a long or a short off season for the Late Models. A number of drivers competed across the winter in the FormaTel Winter Series, while others spent the offseason working on cars, looking for ways to make them better and of course designing that brand new paint scheme. Now however, that time is over as the Racin’ Tyres and Accessories Late Model Sedan Pro Dirt Series is once again ready to roar into life at the Ellenbrook Speedway for the Ray Tulk Memorial this weekend!

As has been the case for a number of years now, Ellenbrook Speedway this Saturday will play host to the thunder and lightning Late Models and with twenty three nominations from a huge range of drivers, there are sure to be sparks flying out on the track!

Reading into the official list, we can see multiple national champions, some new faces, seasoned veterans and fresh youngsters ready for a crack. The question is though: who will win?

Coming in as favorites would have to be the Oldfield siblings Jamie and Warren. It is their home track and they have done more laps there than anyone else in a variety of divisions: Jamie recently winning the Brian Rose Memorial for Street Stocks and both drivers running practice laps in what was a very impressive display. Warren and Jamie have dominated this meeting for the last five years, Jamie winning it twice and Warren three times, including the last two years in a row, so one would be hard pressed to bet against them.

Of course, as always, there are a number of other drivers out to draw first blood including former national champions Marc Giancola and Brad Blake as well as long time competitor Jay Cardy. Giancola also ran some very impressive practice laps a few weeks back and his brilliantly presented car looked an absolute treat, while Brad Blake is also itching to get back on track, this time behind the wheel of a brand new Revelution Chassis machine. Cardy is hungry for wins this season and the three drivers are a real threat to take the top spot on the podium come feature time.

Brent Vosbergen will be making a start this weekend behind the #4 machine and after his performance during the winter season will certainly be one to watch. He will be joined by the FormaTel Winter Series winner Alec Melvin and brother Morgan Melvin, with all three looking to impress on their first Pro Dirt Series outing for the season.

Former national Super Sedan champion Kodee Brown will be splitting his time between the two divisions this year and will this weekend make his debut in the spectacular #07 machine. He will be joined by former State Modified Sedan champion Kye Blight and the two orange machines are sure to be hard to beat at any stage on the track.

Chris Pavlovich has also joined the Late Model ranks from Super Sedans, while long time drivers including Michael Holmes, Simon McNab and Jamie Moon will also be in the field and hungry for some good results.

Lee Watt unveiled a spectacular new paint scheme recently, while Paul Stubber has returned from an American racing trip, with both hoping for solid results. They, along with Ken MacPherson, Dean King, Jayden Meckenstock and Veronica McCann will be working hard to achieve a good finish while Development Series names like Lionel Kirkby, Dale Clark and Jarrin Bielby will also be on hand to try and upset the podium come feature time.
