It’s Time for some Magic!
The Magic Man 34 has become one of the most sought after races on the Late Model calendar in WA and this year will see no less than twenty two machines fight it out to cross the line first in the tribute event.
The Magic Man Michael Figliomeni was a well-known speedway racer who had dabbled in Late Models on occasion. He gained legendary status through his sheer brilliance in not only racing to multiple title, series and feature victories, but also through constructing his own machinery.
He was well loved by the speedway fraternity and this now annual race meeting, the Magic Man 34, honour his memory.
Last year’s event saw heats run before the feature had to be rescheduled to another night due to time commitments. Craig Vosbergen was the man who took out the crown on the new night as he defeated Marc Giancola and Ryan Halliday in an epic feature, but with Craig not in this year’s field it will be up to his son Brent to fly the Vosbergen flag.
Also in the field are the opening two round victors in brothers Jamie and Warren Oldfield. Warren took out the Ellenbrook opener in early October, while Jamie claimed victory in the first show at the Perth Motorplex shortly after. Both are pumped up for this race and will be pulling out all the stops to honour a man they knew well.
Brad Blake is another who will be racing hard this weekend and after being just off the podium each time so far this season, will be pumped to have a strong showing.
Marc Giancola was close last year to a victory, and will be hoping to go one better this time around, while other big names such as Jay Cardy and Paul Stubber will be hoping to turn their early season speed into a win.
Kye Blight and Kodee Brown have impressed many so far this season as they stepped into Late Models and along with fellow young driver Morgan Melvin, will be looking to score a solid finish come feature time.
Matt Goodlad, Mark Webster, Jai Mazzini and Jason Bond are all nominated to have their first hit out of the new season and all three will be looking to find their feet quickly to get into the groove.
Add in a whole host of other nominations and this weekend is sure to be absolutely magical!
