Michael Holmes yesterday had a near perfect day as he garnered two wins and a second place in heat races before he claimed the Pithara Speedway round of the Late Model Development Series, coming home first in the fifteen lap feature event.

His main rival of the day was Ken MacPherson who inflicted Holmes’ only defeat in the opening heat. Despite Holmes leading into the opening corner of the feature, MacPherson quickly passed him for the lead and built up a three car lead. Over the next ten laps Holmes worked the highline to perfection and after two restarts was able to pass MacPherson for the lead.

Holmes went on to then claim the feature win from MacPherson and Peter Seaton, with last round winner Dean King coming home fourth.

Earlier in the day heat races saw MacPherson claim the opener after running down early leader Holmes, with King finishing third. The second heat saw Holmes reverse the result and defeat MacPherson and King, while the final preliminary again went to Holmes, this time over MacPherson and David Nylander.

A solid nine car field competed across the day, but unfortunately todays round at Ellenbrook Speedway was cancelled due to rain throughout the week. With any luck, the number of drivers will increase for the next round of the Late Model Development Series on the 9th of August at Kellerberrin Speedway. See you there!
