The thunder and lightning Late Models will this weekend head up the highway to ‘Windy Hill’ Kellerberrin Speedway for the next round of the Development Series. The series is now in its third year and is proving to be popular with both the fans and the drivers alike.
In this weekends field there is a mix of experienced campaigners alongside some relative newcomers to the sport. Most fans should be familiar with the name Jamie Oldfield, who returns to the division this weekend driving the #6 machine. The former Australian, and current WA Street Stock Champion has announced that he will be returning to the division full time in the 2014/15 summer season in an all out campaign with his brother Warren and will use today as the first of his shake down runs.
Long time competitors Mark Webster and Bryn Haythornthwaite have also thrown their hats in the ring for this weekends action, with both having significant experience racing in the division and looking to hone their skills at Kellerberrin, being the first time the division has raced at the track since it has been redeveloped.
Lionel Kirkby has made the switch into Late Models after having formerly raced AMCA Nationals and will race this weekend while Tyson Bryden will have his first run in a Late Model after previously campaigning a Wingless Sprint.
Other Development Series regulars including Terry Haines, Dean King, Chris Ferguson and Steve Bond have also signalled their intentions to ace this weekend while some new names include Jeff Rogers and Clint Philip, will also be in the field, all of whom will be looking for some consistent runs.
Make sure you have someone to hold onto as the Late Models will certainly be making the ground pound!
